ESD 101’s annual high
school art competition -- open to students
enrolled in grades 9-12 – is coming in March.
The competition is open to students in any
public or state-approved private school in the
ESD 101 region. Artwork will be judged on
creativity, composition, and technique.
Entries are due at ESD 101 (attn: Karin Maynard,
Center for School Improvement, 4202 S. Regal,
Spokane, WA 99223) by 5 p.m., Wednesday, March
5,
2008. A reception and awards ceremony will be
held March 28 at the downtown branch of the
Spokane Public Library, where all entries will
be displayed.
All regional first place awards will be sent to
the State Art Show in Olympia, with winning
entries there purchased for permanent collection
by OSPI.

Basic guidelines for the contest:
- All artwork must have
been created between February 1, 2007 and
January 31, 2008.
- Artwork must be a
student’s original work or a derivative of
that student’s original work. Any and all
copied work will be disqualified.
- No more than two
entries per student may be submitted.
- Flat work must be
matted in a neutral color, with no glass.
Any non-neutral matting or matting done with
glass will be disqualified.
- Flat work is not to
be individually wrapped. All flat work from
a participating school must be bundled
together with an inventory list attached to
the outside wrapping of the bundle.
- Identification and
inventory tags, along with a signed release
and consent form, must accompany each entry.
